Windows Phone 8X by HTC Octo X

In a market dominated by Android and Apple, Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system
has gained somewhat of a cult following and fan base as there are users who would immediately
ditch their current devices for the new Windows Phone 8 devices. Wedon’t really blame them as after having the Windows Phone 8X by HTC for a month, we too wouldn’t mind switching to a Windows Phone 8 device as it is quite a refreshing experience.
The first thing we found to be really refreshing about HTC’s flagship Windows Phone device is its design. If you aren’t one of those who think bigger is better, then you will definitely like the 4.3-inch 8X. It also sports a polycarbonate unibody design much like HTC’s other newer  devices which is great; but what makes it stand out are its curves on the sides and back. Speaking of
standing out, the 8X is also available in a variety of eye-catching colorswhich is a far cry from the sea of black or white devices.  However, like most devices with a unibody design, the 8X comes with the same little issues such as the inability to swap batteries easily and there’s also no microSD card slot. While it does have 16GB of built-in flash, some users may find it a little lacking. But then again, if you aren’t one of those who relies
on their smartphones to watch HD movies, then the 16GB storage should suffice. As for battery life,
the 1800mAh battery is able to last about a full day even if you havepush notifications for email on and use it to make a couple of phone calls.

With that being said though, the 8X is actually perfect for watching HD videos as its non-PenTile Super LCD 2 display that has a resolution of 1280x720 and a 341ppi pixel
density. What this means is that the 8X produces bright, accurate and vivid colors. Combine this beautiful display with Beats Audio technology and the 8X is quite a multimedia powerhouse.
For those of you who aren’t big multimedia consumers and more of creators, the 8X sports the
same impressive camera found on the One X and One S. The rear 8megapixel camera has the backsideilluminated sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens and also the dedicated HTC ImageChip.

All this enables the 8X to produce images with plenty of detail, good color balance and accuracy even in low-light conditions.
The other neat feature is the 2.1-megapixel ultra-wide angle front facing camera that enables users to
take beautiful self-portrait shots. Both these cameras can also record videos in 1080p, which we found to be decent and nothing spectacular.

As HTC’s flagship Windows Phone 8 device, the Windows Phone 8X definitely lives up to our expectations. If you have experience with previous Windows Phone 7. devices, then, this will be familia territory.
However, the only little hurdle we see for this device is the current app ecosystem which
is sorely lagging behind  Android and iOS.

Well The Windows Phone 8X has everything you can expect for
a flagship device from HTC

HTC One SV Review

 Design and build

The curved back of the One SV helps it feel great in hand. HTC has implemented a plastic body here, but it has a premium look and feel to it.

Features

Sense is still trying to make ground on the pure Android experience, but Sense 4.1 is certainly the best iteration of the custom skin we’ve seen.

Battery life

You can get a fair amount of usage out of the 1800mAh battery, but hardcore users should be sure to carry a spare battery or portable charger with them.

Value for money

For what you get for your money, the HTC One SV is a great investment. It’s also the best solution for those looking to get their first 4G phone while on a budget.

 » Verdict

As far as mid-range devices go,  the HTC One SV is definitely up  there. We’d even recommend it over some high-end phones

All about 4G

Devices that offer 4G support aren’t good for your wallet, but the One SV is now one of the cheapest ways to  get your hands on a 4G-enabled phone.

Successful layers

The colour combination of the casing highlights some great aesthetics. HTC always does a good job at bringing stylish touches to its phones and it has done it again

 Make sense of Sense

Sense 4.1 still doesn’t offer a perfect user experience, but there’s no denying it’s improving. Browsing your phone is a lot smoother and the suite of preinstalled apps has certainly improved HTC One SV All about 4G Devices that offer 4G support aren’t good for your wallet, but the One SV is now one of the cheapest ways to  get your hands on a 4G-enabled phone Beats Audio HTC has implemented Beats Audio into the One SV, offering users a chance to listen to  their favourite tunes in crystal-clear high-quality.

The speakers on either side of  HTC looks to blend premium specifications with an affordable price tag, but does it deliver? When you get your hands on an HTC phone,  you know there’s a design treat waiting for  you. The SV is a beautiful device. It feels well put together and the black, white and grey layering makes the device feel a lot more premium . Taking a look at the back of the SV will reveal the 4G LTE branding and it’s the only phone here that caters for the new high speeds.

When turning on the device you’re greeted to a 4.3-inch display sporting a LCD 480 x 800 resolution. It isn’t anything spectacular and suffers from the same pixelation problem as the S3 Mini, but for what you’re paying, it does the job well. One of the best uses of the display is to use it in conjunction with the decent camera that has been implemented. There are some terrific features included and plenty of photo sharing options available as well.

To use all these features you’ll want a speedy processor that can keep up. The One SV is a quick  the SV are also great for sound phone and the dual-core processor handled  everything we could throw at it with flying colours.  Whether you’re doing a spot of downloading, browsing or simply just using the camera, the processor handles it all very well. The One SV ships with the Ice Cream Sandwich update and runs Sense 4.1, which is by far the best version of HTC’s custom skin yet, and there are some quality features included in this phone.

You’ll find new entertainment hubs at your disposal and the default browser has undergone some changes. Sense is far more useable now and HTC has done a great job at updating it into a more user-friendly skin. For a mid-range device, the One SV excels in most  areas. We take our hats off to HTC who has successfully combined plenty of premium features without the premium price to boot. It’s also currently one of the cheapest ways of getting your hands on a 4G-compatible phone.

Liquid Image Ego Mini Review

Oversize action cams can make it hard for us to get as extreme as we’d like. When it drops later this year,  this two-inch-tall POV camera will be just about the smallest one ever.  $200, liquidimageco.com

Asus VivoBook S550CM

Asus VivoBook S550CM

The Asus VivoBook S550CM has been labelled as an ultrabook. It appears to be quite trim but at 2.6kg it may seem a tad overweight to be in such a category. This particular ultra includes a 15.6-inch, 1366x768 res display and an Intel Core i5 processor running at 1.7GHz. Graphics is handled by nVidia’s GT 635M with 2GB video mem. It also includes a 750GB hard disk drive and a 24GB SSD for storage and performance, respectively. Rs 57,999, asus.in

Clicking anywhere on the Quick Look window simply moves it around. However, a secret setting will let you click and drag as usual to highlight text, and you can use the standard key combination of Command + C  to copy text .

The Quick Look window can still be moved around the screen by clicking and dragging its title bar, as with any other program window. To activate the setting, open a Terminal window (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal) and type the following:

ASUS taichi 31 Hybrid Review

The ASUS Taichi 31 Hybrid is the best-performing convertible ultrabook in the whole lot of available ultrabook in the market. The product operates on Windows 8 Pro OS, supported by Intel Core i7 3517U processor at a speed of 1.90GHz and a 4GB DDR3 RAM. It is a very powerful laptop with an innovative design of two screens placed back to back that can be used in four different modes – mirror, tablet, laptop and dual screen.

The display is full HD of 13.3 inch, 16:9 ratio at a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. The outer screen is gorilla glass, which is scratch-proof, but prone to smears and smudges. The ultrabook is extremely lightweight at 1.57 kg for two screens. The design is sturdy on a brushed aluminum body which boasts of a light and sleek look, yet the broad bezel for the notebook screen is not very good.

The audio quality of the device, enhanced by Bang and Olufsen, is really good. Sadly enough, the ultrabook’s battery life of only two hours doesn’t support its features at all. It comes with a chiclet keyboard amid backlight, 265GB SSD, integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, a 5MP camera and a stylus pen. The ultrabook is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. There are a numerous ports, two USB  3.0 ports, one micro HDMI port, one mini VGA port and a  SD/MMC card slot, but it lacks a LAN port.

The ASUS Taichi 31 Hybrid performs extremely well, and  is way better than Sony VAIO 11 and Acer Aspire S7. But one cannot expect a good show for heavy graphics programs and games. Bottom Line: The ultrabook deserves a try because of its innovative features and design of two screens placed back to back. Yet, one should keep a check for its price.
